Seven Lives Saved - Press Kit

About: Action Adventure Fantasy Novel

Blurb:

Kathka is dead.

Once a powerful king, he is now a soul cursed to remain tethered for eternity to his murderer, the only god left in the world.

Then the god offers him a deal. If he saves seven lives, the god will grant him a second life. Kathka accepts the deal, willing to do whatever necessary to obtain a second life and accomplish what he could not in his first.

Kill the god.

However, the world he returns to has changed. A new empire reigns, presided over by the religious cult of the Bu Chak that search for those cursed by the gods, including Kathka. Surrounded by technology and culture he does not understand, and branded as foreign islander, Kathka flees for his own life while seeking the seven he is tasked to save.

But as the world continues to crumble, Kathka is unable to ignore the rising doubt that he may not be able to save even one.

Why do you write?

I have been telling stories since my earliest recollections, writing is just part of who I am. I firmly believe that all stories hold a message that is worth exploring and considering. Fantasy allows us to consider the world, both the good and the evil.

What is the message of Seven Lives Saved?

That anyone can be redeemed.

What are some of the inspirations for the book?

The idea all began with the opening line, “Kathka was dead.” I thought it was such a compelling opening line and the rest of the idea flowed from that. Further inspiration came from a misisons trip to Haiti and a visit to the Sahara desert.

What inspired the character of Kathka?

I wanted the main character to be morally gray, but his anger and brusque attitude reflect more of a hardened hatred for the world. I wanted him to be awful, and yet all to human and relatable.

What made you decide to self-publish, and why did you decide that Seven Lives Saved should be your debut novel?

I decided I wanted to self-publish for creative freedom. I want to explore the stories that give me passion and make me excited without the constraints of finding someone to publish them. I decided that Seven Lives Saved would be my debut because of its fast-paced straightforward prose. It is a good introduction to the kind of stories I have planned.

What is one thing you want readers to know about your book?

That Nana is my favorite character too.
